Can you cut an Ethique shampoo bar to make it smaller for travelling?
If you don't have time to grab a travel-friendly mini bar, cutting a slice off your full size bar will work too! Make sure you use a sharp knife and cut very slowly to stop them from crumbling.
How to store your Ethique bars when you’re travelling
An airtight container is your best option when travelling with solid bars as it keeps them in one place, stops them from getting squished and keeps them in top form when you’re moving from one place to another.
The best storage solution is the one you already own! So, anything out of your reusable container cupboard that fits the airtightness bill will get the job done.
- Have a kids' lunch box or bento box lying around taking up space? Don’t throw them away and send them to a landfill, they will be perfect for your travelling bars.
- Old moisturiser jars can also be reused and are a great option for storing your bars while travelling.
- Our customers tell us they hacked their travel storage by using one of our in-shower storage containers and securing it with a hair tie. Genius.

Pro tip: Travelling with a flannel or face cloth is another excellent tip for helping to keep your bars dry while travelling. Before you put your bar back into your travel container, let it dry by lying flat on a dry towel or flannel after your shower.
Tips for speed drying your bars in a hurry
When time is of the essence and you have a plane to catch shortly after using your bar in the shower, a few speed drying hacks will come in handy! Not even the best storage solution will help the drying process and if you were eyeballing the hair dryer, just don’t. Using heat to dry your bar will melt it and nobody wants that.
Moisturiser bars and tubes don’t like warmth at all, so we don’t recommend the hot water cupboard for them as they will melt. If your solid body butter, face cream or tube is feeling the heat, pop them in the fridge for up to four hours and they will bounce back in no time.
